Senior Quantity Surveyor

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Residential Chelmsford Area £65,000 to £75,000 plus package OR632 Our client is a successful Essex based contractor working within the residential sector. They cover small to medium size housing developments, low / medium rise blocks of flats and other accommodation units such as care homes and student accommodation. Due to organic growth, they are actively looking for an ambitious and driven senior quantity surveyor to join their commercial team. The role is hands on running a small number of projects ranging in value from £1 to £15 million in value. The successful candidate will provide commercial and contractual expertise to manage the commercial resources of the project and be responsible for the delivery of the project within financial targets ensuring that it is procured and delivered within budget, to programme and to the highest quality. ROLE: You will be responsible for the commercial project team, and will report to the Head of Commercial. You will effectively manage the financials & reporting of the businesses new build developments. This will include compiling monthly cost reports, cash flows and highlighting any risks and opportunities. You will manage the full package process from developing procurement schedules, issuing enquiry documentation and preparing subcontractor orders through to managing variations, payments and final accounts. You'll produce monthly valuations and attending meetings to report on valuations, cash flows, procurement and variations. You will also attend project team and the wider business team meetings. CANDIDATE: * You will be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor, ideally with experience working for a housebuilder * Hold a construction related qualification * Have in depth experience of using accounting packages * Proven financial management and cost control * Sound technical knowledge of sub-contractor packages * Strong evidence of successful procurement and management of sub-contractors * Excellent IT skills, including knowledge of Excel
